Volvo to Develop Green Racing Car![]()
Volvo Car Corporation will develop a completely new racing car in 2008 and continue its work with bioethanol (E85) and Green Racing in the STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship). The modern green racing car is based on the Volvo C30, the model that most clearly demonstrates Volvo’s environmental technology on the market, with versions such as the Flexifuel and the upcoming 1.6D Efficiency. The latter has an average fuel consumption of 0.45 litres per 10 km (52 mpg-US/62 mpg-UK) and CO2 emissions under 120 grams per kilometre. Development of the new racing car will be done jointly by Volvo Cars and Polestar Racing.

All this hype about Led Zeppelin has British rockers The Who, itching to get in on the action. The group has begun to plan their next studio album after they released "Endless Wire" in 2006, their first album in 24 years. They will reportedly be work ing with producer T-Bone Burnett who master Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Allison Krause’s new album "Raising Sands." We all know latina sensation Shakira’s hips don’t lie, and apparently her fans are willing to pay big money to prove it. The singer recently held an online auctiont to benefit her charity "Bare Feet Foundation," which helps impoverished children in Colombia. The auction held items from her recent Oral fIxation tour, and raised over $76,000 dollars. Including a shimmering bra that went for $3000 dollars and front row seats plus a meet and greet for $14,000. Feel sad you missed out on some SHakira gear? Don’t be! Concert news: the latest in the long line of upcoming festivals, actually is going to serve a purpose other than just enjoying the music. The new environmentally conscious festival called the Rothbury Festival will take place in early July. Slated to perform are super group Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, 311, and even Snoop Dogg plus over 50 other international acts. The purpose is to bring attention to the issues of climate change and clean energy alternatives. There will be a think tank panel featuring discussions on climate issues, plus an energy fair will be held showcasing new technologies and products aimed at improving the environment.
